BRADENTON, FL -- A pickup struck an ambulance Tuesday morning sending the medics and the driver of the truck to the hospital.

The crash happened at the intersection of Lorraine Road and State Road 70 in Lakewood Ranch on Tuesday morning. The pickup failed to yield to the ambulance, which reportedly had its lights and sirens on, according to a witness and a preliminary investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both the pickup truck and the ambulance appeared to be totaled. One medic and the driver of the truck were flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The other medic, who was the driver of the ambulance, was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital for his injuries.
